Postcolonial Catholicism
Abstract
Progressive Catholics in the United States and elsewhere are working for a postcolonial church that is structured for full participation and committed to the common good. Even the election of the first Latin American pope does not guarantee this result. Analysis of controversial issues including marriage equality, feminist ministry, and reproductive justice reveals that there is a great deal of work to do. Until and unless these matters are addressed, the Roman Catholic Church will continue to operate as a colonializing religious institution despite strenuous efforts by feminists and others.Downloads
